Position: Design Engineer

The Design Engineer is responsible for electronically designing, updating or finalizing schematic designs to support projects utilizing TriMark standards.  Drawings may include detailed equipment plans, equipment schedules, electrical & plumbing rough-in drawings, utility notes and special conditions plans.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain accurate and timely electronic project files for a diverse array of commercial food service facilities
  • Develop detailed equipment plans, equipment specifications, dimension rough-in point of connection drawings, special conditions plans and equipment elevations
  • Accurately work through all design phases from concept to completion, including preliminary design, design development, permit issues and all final contract issue drawings
  • Develop a wide variety of food service related drawings, calculations, cost estimates and equipment specifications
  • Resolve specific daily space planning and design challenges in a fast paced environment
  • Prepare diverse project drawings using TriMark required standards and industry standards
  • Identify potential design issues and address with department head and/or sales person to determine an intelligent and effective design for the client
  • Review and extract utility information pertaining to electrical, plumbing for associated kitchen equipment. Follow up with architects, sales rep(s) or sales engineers to obtain missing information/clarification through creation of written Requests For Information (RFI) documents
 
Competencies, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency reading blueprints required.  Proficiency with AutoCad release 10 or above required
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills preferred
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with designers and engineers, sales team as well as clients
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail.  Ability to multi-task and stay focused on critical objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Eagerness to learn and grow
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of commercial food service design experience preferred
  • Prior factory-rep or estimating experience a plus
  • AutoCAD 10 and/or REVIT experience
