Position: IT Project Manager

Position Summary:
The IT Project Manager (PM) is required to work collaboratively with functional business areas and IT partners to achieve project objectives, milestones and deliverables while ensuring the implementation of high quality solutions that support organizational goals and objectives. This individual will be responsible for assisting with project goals, objectives, project management guidelines, project standards, project scope, timeline, risk identification and mitigation, quality management, project budget, reporting and documentation throughout the project lifecycle. The PM will confirm that client staff and contracted resources are leveraged effectively across the project. They will review and recommend approval of project deliverables. Finally, the PM is responsible for reviewing and reporting on the overall program as well as individual project work plans, overseeing detailed task management; monitoring activities of the services vendor team, timelines, and risks, and has overall responsibility for reporting on status of project activities, milestones, and deliverables.

Reports to: 
Corporate Director – Information Technology
 
Essential Functions (Responsibilities): 
  • Monitor project resources and manage relationships with a wide range of groups
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of project documentation
  • Check that all required project management documents are developed, completed and signed at the appropriate review gate
  • Ensure all written deliverables provided by the Vendor Implementation Project Manager are stored in the appropriate network folders and archived as necessary
  • Draft, review and recommend approval of deliverables 
  • Hold Vendors/TriMark Project staffs accountable through oversight and reporting for completing the Implementation Project on time, within scope, within budget and according to the required quality standard (with agreed specifications)
  • Help mitigate/resolve issues, risks and conflicts that are elevated by the Vendor Implementation Project Manager
  • Manage the project change request process and facilitate the approval process for requests submitted by the Vendor Implementation Project Manager
  • Monitor potential implementation project risks, opportunities, and issues that may impact the project
  • Facilitate resolution of issues with input from the Client Project Managers
  • Escalate unresolved issues to Project Directors and/or Steering Committee, in accordance with policies
  • Report project progress, budget and status to the appropriate levels (e.g., Executive Sponsor, Executive Council, Steering Committee) and recommend corrective action when necessary
  • Review the detailed Project Plan, and monitor schedules on an ongoing basis to include documenting noted issues and concerns with project progress in accordance with the Project Plan
  • Responsible for the independent management oversight of the Project, securing the required resources and advocating to senior management
     
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 5-10 years recent work experience managing complex IT projects
  • Bachelor degree required; in a technical or scientific field preferred -  PMP Certification is an asset
  • Ability to provide high level expertise across a broad range of business and IT-related subject-matter areas with sensitivity to global impact
  • Demonstrated ability to work with business and IT partners of all levels; sensitivity and understanding required for successful cultural relations
  • Assist in the design, implementation and support of the organizational governance 
  • Must have experience and understanding of how to structure a team and approach which will work collaboratively with multiple, diverse cultures
  • Experience performing cost/benefit analysis regarding new IT purchases and business process changes
  • Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy to understand business terms to all levels of management and cultures including senior leaders.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities with high attention to detail; requires strong organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Ability to facilitate customers, end-users and other stakeholders in joint analysis sessions to ensure understanding of business goals, requirements and deliverables
  • Excellent analytical ability to quickly gather facts, perform root cause analysis and draw conclusions
  • Exhibits effective team skills
  • Ability to lead and work under pressure; make decisions at the project team level and properly escalate those decisions that cannot be resolved on a timely basis
  • Expertise on risk management to include identification, monitoring and response strategies
  • Demonstrates working knowledge with MS-Office suite of software applications and tools, including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS-Project, and MS-Outlook 
  • Experience working with various IT industry standards (i.e., ITIL, COBIT, CMMI)
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Travel: 15% required
